	FLOWER PORTRAITS
Using my SX-70 Polaroid camera, I document the seasonal flowers in my neighborhood and floral studio. I enjoy this process because it is meditative to sit with the image during the development period. I then respond by taking another portrait, adjusting settings as needed. In my tulip series, I chose a closed tulip to document its unfolding over 24 hours.

	LABOR OF LOVE
What if a flower could live forever? Through eco printing, it can. Natural dyers in Chicago have gone to great lengths to preserve color. I investigated a natural dyer’s approach to their craft to document the intimate process of extracting color from the natural world. The mordant, fabric, and dye interact with heat and steam to combine the natural cloth with botanicals, resulting in an explosion of color. This photo story follows the process of Chicago-based artist Liz Mortensen as she cultivates her natural dye practice by transforming thrifted silk garments with the botanicals she grows at her community garden plot.

	OUR MOTHER’S MOTHER
In 2019, I took a trip to Denmark from the United States to document the places where my great-grandmother on my father’s side lived, capturing the essence of my family’s origins. This journey was followed by a trip to Arizona, where I photographed my great-grandmother’s home on my mother's side. 
By juxtaposing these two locations, I initially aimed to create a comprehensive visual narrative of my family's roots, weaving together distinct yet interconnected landscapes that span continents and generations. As I reflect on this project, I understand the relationship I was fostering with my ancestors by seeing the places where they lived and learning their stories.
